Is it fascism yet?

When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross.

Yep. Reminds me of the contents of one of my old posts. Quite sobering.

You will likely find this as disturbing as I do:

I definately want to see Aaron Russo's "America: From Freedom to Fascism" (http://www.freedomtofascism.com/) if it ever hits the local market (or at least DVD). Just more datapoints to add to where our theocratic, oligarchic, "corporatist" country seems to be heading, no doubt.

read his book "It can't happen here." Talk about being on the ball back in the day. Written in 1937 and could have been written next year.

Lisa, I loved the post, and commented there. Thanks!

I heard that episode of Democracy Now, Markus. Pretty disturbing -- more because it isn't challenged than because it exists at all I think.

Thanks for the references.

I have to throw in with John Dean on this one: it's proto-fascism, well on its way to becoming total fascism. I also like Orcinus' interpretation: Pseduo-fascism, meaning not that it's false but that it's new and different--kinder and gentler, if you will. You and me and everyone else has been warning conservatrons for ages about it. Odd how they refuse to listen. Anyway, Costa Rica has a mild winter and low cost of living. Look for me there if we don't win the House in November.
