DNC in 2008 - Cat 5 in 2012

2008 Democratic National Convention in New Orleans?

The DNC leadership better move fast. The Republicans are talking about it too. Of course, the Republicans might be thinking of shamelessly using Hurricane Katrina to sell their candidate. We all know how they used images from 9/11 to terrorize Americans into voting for the village idiot ... except, oh, there's one small problem - most of the images from Hurricane Katrina don't reflect well on the preznit's leadership. Come to think of it, by 2008, the Republicans might want to hold their convention in some place like ... the Arctic Circle. Hey, it ought to be warm enough by then. In fact, it might be the only inhabitable place left on the planet.

I have another suggestion. Louisiana became a state in 1812. How about a ribbon cutting on a new southern Lousiana category 5 storm protection system for the bicentennial celebration in 2012. That's six years. Most estimates say it would take fifteen or more years to do the job. We can't wait that long. The New Orleans area can't take another hurricane. There has to be a faster time table to get the job done.

Aren't we the most powerful, most industrious country in the world?

A ha - maybe that's part of the problem. We no longer are the most industrious country in the world. We're too busy watching Desperate Housewives and walking around in shopping malls to think about why we're spending $200 billion to rebuild a nation we never should have attacked.

This what politics is all about. Strategy at this point plays a vital role. The election is still 3 years away, but parties are laready making their moves. With Bush gone, the race is wide open.
