Time to polish your resume Ray Ray
Did y'all see the Sunday Stephanie Grace column? She gave a nice rundown of what the support is for the mayoral candidates based upon their campaign receipts. Among the conclusions:
Nagin still has a huge campaign war chest valued at over $1 million, but he definitely is hittin' the crack pipe if he thinks he has any popular, meaningful support out there.
- Jimmy Reiss gave $5000 to Ron Forman's campaign, and Reiss' wife gave another $5000 to Forman. Reiss is the businessman who, in return for his support 2002, Nagin tapped to chair the Regional Transit Authority.
- Boysie Bollinger gave $5000 each from nine of his companies to Forman's campaign, a total of $45,000.
- Architect William Sizeler gave Mitch Landrieu's campaign $10,000 through himself, and through his firm.
- Restaurant owner Ralph Brennan gave Landrieu $5000.
- Louisiana Recovery Authority member Sean Reilly and his wife each gave Landrieu $5000. Reilly's father and brother each gave $5000 to Forman.
- And now, here's the kicker ... Ray Nagin only took in one political contribution since Hurricane Katrina -- $500.

I still think C.Ray will make the runoff. Only Q is, will his opponent be Mitch or Forman?
My guess is Mitch, because Forman's negative numbers are off the charts, as in, right up there with C. Ray's.
If C. Ray and Forman are there, I'm thinking Ray may pull it out, as the negative numbers for Forman are that bad. If it's C. Ray and Mitch, well, get packin' Ray.
I have yet to see a Ray Ray sign that wasn't paid advertising. Forman signs sure are popular in front of really big, expensive houses. Landrieu signs are what I see everwhere else. Go Mitch.
Great observation Rob -- not that you mention it, you're absolutely right. I was getting disheartened seeing all the Forman signs in front of "really big, expensive houses," but I'm encouraged now by your observation, correctly made, that Mitch signs are everywhere else.
Nagin may do better than some expect with the out-of-town New Orleanian voters. I've talked to a few friends still out of state whose main impression and memory of Nagin is still from when he was telling the Feds to get off their asses while the city was under water.
Infrogmation -- I'm afraid you may be right. I too cheered Nagin when he pulled that stunt, but in retrospect, I see that it was just more of him flying off the handle, lips moving without any thought behind them. He did get the attention we needed, but he ain't gettin' the attention we need now -- *7 months later*!!!
