A sentiment I've been expressing quite a bit of. Some folks not from around here ask me about my commute through Lakewood and through the Bywater to get to work every day and ask about it being a depressing thing. Frankly I like prefer to see the progress that does occur in those areas, from bags of debris outside of some home that hadn't been touched in 6 months, to houses with fresh paint because someone is actually rebuilding.
In all we need to be aware of the past and try our best to learn from our mistakes, but for me constantly harping on what hasn't been done will only prevent me from pushing forward and looking to the future and seeing what can be done. For me looking ahead is the only real option to keep moving us forward and to keep working on getting this phenominal city rebuilt.
Learn from the past, don't live in it, I say.
