Halliburton's greasy hands

Halliburton was caught red-handed bribing Nigerian officials to undervalue its tax obligations, and admitted the impropriety. Consequently, six months ago, the Nigerian parliament voted to blacklist Halliburton. Halliburton subsidiary, KBR, is also implicated in bribery to obtain a gas contract, and is suspected of having "aided in the theft" of radioactive devices used in its oil drilling operations.

The Lagos newspaper, This Day, reported that notwithstanding this criminal activity, KBR was still able to somehow produce a letter from the Nigerian president's office exempting it from the blacklist and awarding the gas contract.
