What's the cost of the Iraq War to your city?

New Orleans residents have spent $172 million on the Iraq War to date, according to the National Priorities Project.

This is New Orleans' share of the $207.5 billion allocated by Congress plus the recent supplemental request submitted by the Bush Administration ($82 billion just agreed to by House and Senate). The first supplemental appropriated about $54 billion for the Iraq War (passed in April 2003), the second $71 billion (November 2003), and the third $21.55 billion (June 2004).

What else could that kind of money be spent on in New Orleans? Well, just for starters, it's about a third of the budget for the nearly bankrupt New Orleans school system.

How much has your city contributed to the Iraq War?
