Those lunch martini's sure do add up

More price-gouging by private contractors -- The Times-Picayune:

Federal officials have been unwilling to share information on how much they're paying for debris removal, but those in the business put the number at about $20 per cubic yard. The corps has estimated that there are still about 16.6 million cubic yards of debris to be picked up, meaning bills will run in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

"At least 30 (percent) to 40 percent of every dollar is going to the overhead process. There's going to be millions of dollars added to the local burden we already have. I can show them how to save 30 percent."
