We don't need no stinkin' Fortune 500 companies

Could the message to Washington be any clearer?

Entergy CEO J. Wayne Leonard, in a letter to employees (my emphasis):

With extreme tropical weather conditions on the rise, and very little movement on either permanent repair of the levee system or concrete plans for the construction of Category 5 hurricane protection for the city of New Orleans, we cannot in good conscience and, with respect to our fiduciary obligations to our owners, put our employees and our company in the position of a full-scale corporate redeployment again.

Entergy is the only Fortune 500 company headquartered in New Orleans.

Is anyone paying attention?

Hat tip: Hurricane Katrina & Rita Evacuation & Aftermath.

BizNewOrleans and The Times-Picayune have the story.
