By the numbers

Numbers I'm watching lately:

1) Sadly, we're about to hit the 1600 mark of American soldier deaths in Iraq. There has been a dramatic spike in casualties in the last month.

2) We spent another billion dollars on the Iraq War, surpassing $167 billion.

3) Yesterday's date was 05-05-05. Next year will be...yes, that's right, the sign of the devil. The end times are nigh, but I think all those evangelical right-wing Christians who think they alone have divine knowledge are in for a big surprise.

Finally, something that's aggravated me the last couple of days - what is the word for a date in which the sequence of numbers repeat, and/or, are the same backwards and forwards? Help, anyone?
