Well whaddya know

I'm a liberal, according to the Political Typology Questionnaire at the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press.

Among the survey results:

Liberals have "nearly doubled in proportion since 1999. Liberal Democrats now comprise the largest share of Democrats."

Liberals are the "most highly educated group (49% have a college degree or more)."

Liberals are "second only to Enterprisers in following news about government and public affairs most of the time (60%). Liberals' use of the internet to get news is the highest among all groups (37%)."
Serendipity! NPR's Robert Siegel is talking to Andrew Kohut of the Pew Center right now.

Surprise: Kohut says that 68 percent of conservative Republicans answered that "I often can't make ends meet." That's right, we're talkin' poor people who claim to be conservative Republicans.

Meanwhile, the largest group of fiscal hawks, the people who say cutting the deficit and reducing the national debt is important - is no longer the Enterpriser Republicans! It's the Liberals. This is a big reversal from the first Pew Political Typology questionnaire in 1987.

Overall, I'd say the questionnaire reveals trends that look pretty good for liberals.

Hat tip to Paul over at Public Brewery (another smart, well-educated liberal).
