Coastal Forest Health public meetings

Here's your chance to fight the Vitter provision to allow unregulated cypress clearcuts, but even more, to add your voice to the rising call for a statewide ban on cypress mulch sales, and a statewide moratorium on cypress logging.

From the Gulf Restoration Network Gulfwaves newsletter:

Public Meetings on Coastal Forest Health, Use, and Policy Announced

The Louisiana Governor's Office of Coastal Activities will be conducting a series of public meetings on coastal forest science and policy. The objectives of the meetings are to brief the public on the results of a scientific study that was done for the Governor's Office regarding coastal forests and to take comments from people throughout the coastal region about the protection and continued use of our coastal wetland forests and their long-term viability. The meetings will consist of a brief review of the Governor's Coastal Wetland Forest initiative, a presentation on the results of the work of the Governor's Coastal Wetland Forest Conservation and Use Science Working Group, and a public comment period for information gathering purposes.
