Libby Testified He Was Told To Leak Data About Iraq
Vice President Cheney's former chief of staff testified that his bosses instructed him to leak information to reporters from a high-level intelligence report that suggested Iraq was trying to obtain weapons of mass destruction, according to court records in the CIA leak case.
Former FEMA Director to Testify About Katrina
Brown could shed light on the White House's lack of awareness of events on the day of Katrina's landfall. Documents released by the Senate show that although the Homeland Security Operations Center reported at 6 p.m. Aug. 29 that no New Orleans levees had been breached, authorities received no fewer than 16 reports to the contrary before then.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 29, levee breaks were reported by sources including New Orleans and Louisiana homeland security officials, the Transportation Security Administration, the National Weather Service, FEMA officials, White House Homeland Security Council and Homeland Security Department "spot reports," the Army Corps of Engineers, the Coast Guard, and the American Red Cross.
Ex-CIA Official Faults Use of Data on Iraq
The former CIA official who coordinated U.S. intelligence on the Middle East until last year has accused the Bush administration of "cherry-picking" intelligence on Iraq to justify a decision it had already reached to go to war, and of ignoring warnings that the country could easily fall into violence and chaos after an invasion to overthrow Saddam Hussein.
Paul R. Pillar, who was the national intelligence officer for the Near East and South Asia from 2000 to 2005, acknowledges the U.S. intelligence agencies' mistakes in concluding that Hussein's government possessed weapons of mass destruction. But he said those misjudgments did not drive the administration's decision to invade.
"Official intelligence on Iraqi weapons programs was flawed, but even with its flaws, it was not what led to the war," Pillar wrote in the upcoming issue of the journal Foreign Affairs. Instead, he asserted, the administration "went to war without requesting -- and evidently without being influenced by -- any strategic-level intelligence assessments on any aspect of Iraq."

I have to admit that despite some of the optimism I've been espousing in that other thread, that in the area of national politics, and with the administrition of King George in particular, I'm very, very uncomfortable. I know the man thinks he is doing the "right thing" but even Nixon was run out of office on far lesser offences than have come out of this administration. These guys downright scare me.

Know what? To Hell with Brownie. I dont care what he says, what proof he has or who he blames...I dont care if he sings like Ethyl friggin Merman opening a ball game on the 4th of July, the bastard still failed,laughed it off and refused to take any ownership for his part in this scandanavian clusterf*ck. He still stabbed New orleans in the back, and he's still trying to blame everyone else for his folly.
Anything short of dragging his sorry yuppie hide down the street and hanging him from a telephone pole in the lower 9th like Mussolini is a gift he should be thankful for.
